There was little in the way of daylight when Ebryn and his companion began their long trek up one of the small mountains of the moon isles. A Land sacred to the inhabitants and to the rider himself, as his homeland long ago. He rarely visited anymore, the scorn of a dragon rider amongst their kin was apparent to the traditionalist amongst the villages. Those in the court of Skulls were aghast that one of their own would leave the sanctity of their islands to seek out a reckless lifestyle where they were at the behoove of a beast. There was no love lost on the Dragon King with the older islanders. Their alliance with those who would be pirates was something they held dear. Anything other than that was seen as far too much risk for the people who lived both under the protection, and the thumb of the pirates who inhabited the islands.
As the air grew thinner, dropping to a temperature none would feel comfortable in the elf man grit his teeth and pushed harder to continue his trial to the summit of the mountain. Far smaller than that of the Frostbite mountains but difficult nonetheless. He could feel the will of his dragon pushing him on as the beast - without any issue - was trotting at his side. When he finally made it to the top he sat down and raised a hand to his forehead, wiping off the cold droplets of sweat from his brow and taking deep panting breaths. He stayed like that for a moment to catch what breath he could before he felt the dragon towering above him grow tired of standing still. Had he the breath to do so he would have laughed at the almost childlike petulance he could feel coming off the monstrous beast. "Away then, if you're so impatient. But there isn't anything to kill out here. No animal lives this far north without being able to hide from a Dragon your size." The ragged voice lay heavy in the air. How long had it been since he had spoken to someone? A few days at least it must have been.
Finally feeling like he would not suffer if he continued, Ebryn rose from the ground with little noise of complaint. His dragon had yet to move from his side, staring down at him with its eternally cold eyes. Had he not raised this dragon from hatching it may have struck fear into him. However, his dragon knew that to get more of a rise from his master he needed to cause a significant amount of mayhem. It hissed a long, frozen breath. Scales glistening against the droplets of mist that lingered this high into the mountains. Far from being a dragon with breath of fire as many suspected, Ebryn had raised a dragon whose skills lay in its icy spray. The beast could lay waste to entire villages, leaving in its place a frozen tomb. All that fell beneath its path would perish.
Not that he did so often, however an Oath Breaker needed an income somehow. Mercenary work was easy with a dragon who could kill a target in the blink of an eye. "Come then, let us find our mark" The rider said, patting his beast with a heavy calloused hand before making light of leaping onto its back. "Away! He cried, feeling the heavy beat of the dragons wing disrupt the air and the initial jolt in his gut as once more the dragon rose up into the sky and began its flight. May the Dragon King take pity on the soul that was soon to be removed from this plane of existence.
